Values/Ethos

Our vision is to provide an inclusive, aspirational and academic education for all our scholars, so that all of them will learn, thrive and lead successful lives. We are unapologetically ambitious for every child, no matter what their background, prior attainment or needs. We want to ensure that all our scholars have the option to be able to go to university or aspirational alternative. As a family, our values are exceptionally important to us. These aren’t just things we say, they are things we believe in and underpin every action and conversation within this great school. We have used high-quality research and the experiences of the best schools to develop an ambitious curriculum, strong routines, and a life-changing programme of personal development. We believe in traditional approaches to teaching, and we value scholarship. In recognition of this, we refer to our young adults as ‘scholars’ to reflect the commitment that everyone makes to academic learning, here and beyond.

Our culture of high expectations and strong behaviour ensures that all children are supported to excel in both their academic and personal development. We offer a rich, knowledge-driven curriculum alongside a variety of enrichment opportunities, because we understand that success comes in many forms. For us, it is not only desirable but demanded and achievable that every child, no matter their starting point, succeeds.

Our core values of Scholarship, Curiosity, Tenacity, Responsibility, and Respect form the foundation of everything we do. These values aren’t just words; they guide every action, conversation, and decision within our school, shaping the way we engage with our scholars, staff, and community. We are proud to be values-driven and unapologetically ambitious for all of our scholars. We believe in providing an inclusive and aspirational education for every child, regardless of background, prior attainment, or individual needs. Whether it’s preparing our scholars for university or helping them pursue other aspirational goals, we strive to ensure that no child’s potential is limited by their circumstances

Our core values are the bedrock of our culture and the essence of our collective identity at Ernulf Academy. These values underpin a positive and inclusive environment, guiding individuals to embody integrity, compassion, and purpose in their personal and professional lives. They ignite a passion for excellence and underpin a strong sense of belonging within our wider community. Together, these core values empower us to uphold our commitment to excellence and make a positive difference in everything we do.

Scholarship

We are committed to promoting a culture of academic excellence. Through a dedication to scholarship and a knowledge-rich curriculum, we empower our scholars and colleagues to pursue knowledge, and the rigorous exploration of subjects as disciplines.

Curiosity

We embrace curiosity as a driving force for exploration, innovation, and discovery. It involves an openness to learning from different perspectives, a willingness to challenge assumptions, and an eagerness to discover the unknown.

Tenacity

We value perseverance, resilience, and determination in the face of challenges. With tenacity, we encourage our scholars and colleagues to overcome obstacles, stay committed to their goals, and strive for excellence.

Responsibility

We uphold principles of accountability, integrity, and ethical conduct in all aspects of our work. It involves fulfilling obligations, honouring commitments, and considering the impact of one’s choices on oneself and others. Through a sense of responsibility, we foster trust, reliability, and ethical leadership among our scholars and colleagues.

Respect

We promote a culture of respect, empathy, and inclusivity in our school community. By valuing diversity, dignity, and mutual understanding, we create a welcoming and supportive environment where everyone feels valued and respected.
